We are specifically looking for nominees interested in serving on one of the following committees: Conference, Governance, Awards, Cross-Cultural Equity, and Membership. Please visit our website for more information on the scope of these committees.

Currently, 3 (up to 5) at-large positions are open for the upcoming term. To nominate yourself or a colleague, please submit the nomination packet by October 18th.

EXPECTATIONS AND COMMITMENT

Terms of membership shall run from January through December.

The IARSLCE Board is a working board. Each Board member is expected to chair or play a major role on one or more Association committees and/or serve as an officer of the Board. Each Board member is expected to volunteer 2-4 hours per week, with some weeks requiring more time than others. The Board meets monthly; Board members are expected to participate in all official meetings. One meeting is held in person at the annual conference. Additional meetings may be held to address ongoing issues of the Association, as well as for committee work (usually by Zoom).

ELIGIBILITY

Per the Association bylaws, the Board of Directors shall be comprised of at least 15 and no more than 20 members (including ex officio members), who focus on research in service-learning and community engagement and collectively reflect different settings, disciplines, and constituencies. The Board shall be comprised to have a balance of individuals representing research interests across the educational spectrum.

Board Members must be members of IARSLCE. To check your membership status, email admin@iarslce.org or become a member today.

NOMINATIONS AND CANDIDATE APPLICATIONS

Any current member of the Association is eligible to run for election to the Board of Directors. Members may nominate another current member or themselves.  If you are not a current member, you must join the Association before submitting your nomination.

NOTE: If you are nominating someone else, the nomination should be discussed and confirmed with the person before their name is submitted for the official ballot, and a statement of agreement to stand for election from the nominee must be included with the nomination.

BALLOT

The ballot will list the names of all candidates, and the Board category in which they have selected to run. At the completion of voting, those candidates with the most votes in each respective category will be recommended to the Board for ratification as new Board members. Once elected, each Board member generally serves and represents the entire membership (regardless of affiliation); the members in designated Board positions work to ensure that the needs and concerns of the constituency that they represent are considered and represented in Board affairs.

COMMITMENT TO EQUITY & INCLUSION

IARSLCE is committed to building an Association that is rooted in equity and inclusion, and reflects the diversity of our membership’s identities, perspectives, methods, practices, roles, and sectors. We strongly encourage nominations from individuals who are from groups that are systemically and historically marginalized.
